This Xmas the Good Penguin is raising money for Sparkle, a charity in our local community that supports children, young people, and their families, with disabilities and/or developmental difficulties.
Verity Cadwallader, a corporate fundraiser at Sparkle tells us, “We support over 300 families per week through delivering activities and clubs such as independent living skills, youth clubs, play clubs, swimming sessions, and cooking, whilst also supporting families through specialist counselling, workshops, and information & advice services. Whilst COVID has changed the way we are working slightly, many of our clubs, activities are going ahead, albeit slightly different and adhering to current regulations, and our Family Liaison Officers are still working in order to support our families at such a tough time.
The guiding principle for Sparkle is to ensure children and young people with a disability and/or developmental difficulty across the community are fully supported to participate in valued childhood experiences and have access to the same range of opportunities, life experiences, activities and services, as any other child.
As you can imagine COVID drastically changed the way we raise funds and so we are extremely grateful for the support you are giving us.”
This year the Good Penguin has made a contribution to the charity through our JustGiving page and we’re encouraging others, like yourself, to support us by making a contribution this Xmas.
